Description

Folios 85-86. An unsigned newsletter to [ambassador] Sir Joseph Williamson, dated at Whitehall [Middlesex]. Reports on: letters from Jamaica advising that [French Admiral] Pointys [Baron de Pointis] has sailed from Petet Guavez [Petit-Goâve, Hispaniola, Haiti] looking for Spanish galleons, mentioning the Cape Tiberoon [Tiberon], Sir Wm [William] Beeston, Porto Bello [Panama]; the arrival of Admiral [John] Nevill and Captain [George] Mees at Barbados, by report of the master of the Lyon, arrived at Plymouth [Devon]; the departure from the Downs of Sir George Rooke's ships, with Sir Cloudesly Shovell and Vice Admiral [Matthew] Aylmer; the Dutch Rotterdam fleet off Hull [Yorkshire]; the trial of the Earl of Bath against the Earl of Montagu; and the improving health of the Lord Chancellor [John Somers].
