Folios 60-61. An unsigned newsletter from [Robert] Yard to Sir Joseph Williamson [ambassador in the Netherlands], dated at Whitehall [Middlesex]. Reports on: the embarkation of regiments to Flanders, and plans for the encampment of most of those remaining on Blackheath [Kent] if the Treasury complies; concern for the Virginian fleet, with Admiral [John] Benbow and eight Dutch cruises gone out to meet them; winds keeping Sir George Rooke and the great ships at 'the buoy of the Nore' [in the Thames Estuary]; discounts on Treasury notes; and a discovery that Exchequer teller [William] Palmes has diverted, for his own personal use, £17,000 public moneys which is now needed to pay loans.
