Folios 56-57. A letter from J [John] Ellis to Lord Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall [Middlesex]. Commiserates over Williamson's need to stay in Rotterdam [Netherlands] on account of 'want of fitting conveniences' at The Hague; Williamson's apology to Secretary [James Vernon]; the embarkation of regiments to Flanders, and plans for the encampment of most of those remaining on Blackheath [Kent] this summer; orders from the Lords Justices to the Lord Mayor and justices of Middlesex and Westminster to be vigilant against people 'coming from beyond sea'; and the embarkation at Chester [Cheshire] of the Lords Justices of Ireland. Received 31 May 1697.
