Place of accident: Near Cardiff Crwys Storage sidings, Glamorgan.
Injury: Right foot crushed necessitating amputation of leg below the knee.
Details of accident: Owing to a Railwaymen's strike wagons of coal in the Crwys Storage Sidings were requestioned by the Local Coal and Coke Supplies Committee under the Defence of the Realm Act. Wagons moved to the Private Siding for distribution. Johns was in charge of one of the horses, and caught right foot in "V" of crossing. Wagon brake applied but wagon passed over John's foot crushing it.
