Pages 66-67. The Council has concluded that the recent sudden increase in plague in the cities of London and Westminster has been caused in part by people returning too soon from the country to their infected properties. Order that none return without a certificate from the nearest justice of the peace that their houses and goods are clear of infection, failing which they are to be shut up in their houses for as long as the justice of the peace thinks fit. Also that they are not to receive visitors until the end of Hilary term. Note appended that three identical Orders were directed to the justices of the peace of Westminster, Middlesex and Surrey.
