Folios 303-304. Letter from Francis Barrett in Rochester [Kent] to Sir Joseph Williamson at his house in Jermyn Street, Westminster about the adverse consequences of calling in 'the old broad money'. He says that in some parishes there is insufficient milled money for the inhabitants to buy bread. He ends 'I hear the calling in the money is the only expedient that can be found to furnish the present exigencies of the Exchequer, and without doubt the same reason will necessitate the calling in the new money too next year. It were to be wished the calamities the people of England now lie under would teach them wisdom, and make them more cautious for the future in the choice of their representatives'.
