Folios 285-286. Letter to the Duke of Shrewsbury from 'a nameless Englishman, who heartily loves his country, though he has been many years out of it' about the advantage to be gained by the King and his allies by restricting monetary exchange to 'value to value, according to the weight and fineness of the money', the French, since the beginning of the war, having devalued their coinage it still exchanges abroad for about the same original value. The letter is dated 5/15 October [16]96].
