Folios 203-204. Letter from Jno [John] Mascall at New Romney [Kent] to James Vernon that the messenger, Mr Legatt, and party of horse are on their way back to London with [the Jacobite plotter] Sir John Fenwick and Mr Robert Webber. He names Nicholas Rolfe, John Brackenbury, John Randolph, Robert Mascall, his son, Thomas Dray and John Rawley as the men responsible for apprehending Fenwick and Webber and asks that Thomas Ladd be released 'and encouraged as he deserves for bringing this matter to pass' and should have a share in the reward of £500. Mascall says he is 'enclosing a letter written in pencil (as supposed) by Fenwick and directed to Mrs Farrah at the Countess Dowager of Carlisle's house in Soho Square'. Enclosure not filed here.
