Captured ship: America of Boston (master Hugh Sampson of Horne).
History: an English merchant ship (200 tons, 1 swivel gun, owner William Clarke of Boston, Massachusetts), bound from Boston to London, laden with sugar, whale oil, logwood, molasses, and beaver pelts; taken in fight on 5/15 July 1690 off the Scilly Isles by a French privateer, retaken the same day by HMS Mary Galley (James Wishart commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
