Captured ship: Alexander the Great of Dunkirk (commander Jean Nisdorse).
History: a French privateer (20 tons, 4 guns, 26 men), bound from Dunkirk on a cruise; taken on 26 September / 6 October 1697 off Folkestone by HMS Eagle (James Anderson commanding), and brought into Rye.
