Letter from Thos [Thomas] Slade at Mr [John] Tregeagle [Tregagle Member of Parliament for Bossiney, Cornwall] relaying the information given to him by [John] Cranbey captain of HMS Poole concerning 14 French men of war at Brest. Slade believes he 'could with less suspicion obtain a more certain account of the naval preparations of France than any ship wearing the King's colour'.
