Description

Folios 201-202. A letter from J [John] Ellis to Lord Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex]. Reports on: the duelling wound, feared fatal, sustained in Norfolk by Sir Henry Hubbard; election results in Exon [Exeter, Devon], where Sir Edward Seymour and Sir Barthol [Bartholomew] Shower defeated Sir Edward Seaward and Sir John Elwill; the Lord Chancellor's [John Somers'] absence in Tunbridge [Kent]; the Duke of Devon's absence in Derbyshire; and 'a very empty town' [London].
