Description

Folios 81-82. A letter from J [John] Ellis to Lord Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex]. Mentions rumours of the death of the King of Spain; the disbandment of 13 regiments; the public entry of the Swedish ambassador [Count de Bonde] who is in mourning, and who is to meet the King [William III] in Windsor [Berkshire]; speculation that the King will go to Holland [Netherlands] where he will meet the King of Denmark, and may take the waters at Ahen [?Aachen, Aix-la-Chapelle]; Brigadier Cholmondeley, brother of Lord Cholmondeley, has married Mademoiselle Rorylemberg, Monsieur Danvererquerque's niece; and Lord Godolphin's grandson is marrying the Earl of Marlborough's eldest daughter.
