Folios 67-68. A letter from J [John] Ellis to Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex]. The King [William III] is returning to Kensington [Palace] from Newmarket [Cambridgeshire] tomorrow, via Hadham Hall [Little Hadham, Hertfordshire]. In London, he'll meet the French ambassador publicly, following his private meeting at Newmarket, and the King is expected to go, soon, to Windsor [Berkshire]. The Duke of Shrewsbury, who is ill, is expected in town [London]. There has been 'more gaming than racing' at Newmarket, and Mr Boucher and other 'celebrated gamesters' have suffered.
