Description

Folios 59-60. A letter from J [John] Ellis to Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex]. There is no word of any limit on Williamson's stay in The Hague [Netherlands]; advice to the ambassador to make his 'living there as pleasant as you can'. The Duke of Shrewsbury is in better health, and is setting out tomorrow from Woburn [Bedfordshire] to Newmarket [Cambridgeshire], where the nobility and gentry are gathered [with King William III] to see 'great matches to be run'. The Earl of Tullibardine has stood down as Secretary of State for Scotland, being dissatisfied that Hugh Dalrymple and not William Hamilton has been made President of the [Court of] Sessions.
