Folio 101. [Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Joseph Williamson [Nine Years' War]. The Earl of Monmouth arrived on Wednesday last from Flanders. [Sir John] Lanier's, Athlone's, and Scaeke's regiments of horse are ordered thither and are probably embarking. The Prince [George] and Princess [later Queen Anne] of Denmark are going to Bath next week, but before they will come to Berkeley House. Dr Wake [?William, later Archbishop of Canterbury] having their Majesties' presentation to the living of St James', went to the Bishop of London [Henry Compton] who said that the church was already full, he having presented and inducted Dr [Peter] Birch; so it must now come to a trial at law. There is news from the fleet, plying between the Start and the coast of France. Letters from Portsmouth say that four regiments were shipped the day before at Southampton and Cowes; that the regiments of foot encamped under the walls of Portsmouth would embark on the 22, and the horse the day following.
