Folio 82. [Robert] Yard reporting to Sir Joseph Williamson [Nine Years' War]. Dutch mails from the King's camp say that the town of Namur was surrendered to the French by capitulation on the 26 past, the garrison retiring into the castle. The King advanced on the 29 to the River Mehaigne, over which he caused a great many bridges to be made, with a firm resolution to attack the enemy the next day; but by reason of the continual rain, the river was so full of water that it was impossible to pass over to attack the enemy, so they awaited fair weather. The French had not yet begun to attack the castle, and above 500 deserters have come over. News from Vienna say that Great Waradin [?Romania] held out still.
