Folio 75. [Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Joseph Williamson [Nine Years' War]. Last Thursday evening most of their Majesties' Navy, under Admiral [Edward] Russell's command, returned to St Helen's; the rest, under [Admiral] Sir John Ashby's command, were left on the coast of France towards [Le] Havre; and the smaller ships have gone towards Brest. Above 20 sail of French three deckers were destroyed, besides transport ships. Three companies more of Coll [Colonel Anthony] Hastings' regiment came into this island, and the rest are daily expected; it is said they will be encamped upon St George's Down.
