[Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Joseph Williamson, and enclosing an extract (not included in this volume) of a letter which Lord Portland [Hans William Bentinck] received from Admiral [van] Allemonde [Allemond]. Captain Mees arrived from Sir Ralph Delaval with the confirmation of his having burnt the three great ships mentioned in the print, and [Admiral Edward] Russell had so enclosed 15 more that they could not escape.
