Folio 72. [Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Joseph Williamson. Letters have come from Plymouth, saying that the 'Sandwich', the 'Hampton Court', and a Dutch man of war of 76 guns called the 'Seven Provinces' had come in, disabled from the fleet. The French had left only 50 men of war, though at first they had 72. Col [Colonel] Hastings, commander of the 'Sandwich', was killed, and Captain Gradon, of the 'Hampton Court', dangerously wounded; the death of [Admiral Richard] Carter is confirmed. From Flanders they hear that the French are going to besiege Namur.
