Upon the establishment of the Department of National Heritage in 1992, responsibility for film was transferred from the Department of Trade and Industry. The prefix FV (for Film and Video) was originally used by DTI. It remained in use under the Department of National Heritage and subsequently the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
