Captured ship: Phoenix of Middelburg, otherwise of Zealand (Cornelis Reers commanding).
History: a Dutch privateer (18 guns, 86 men); taken on 7 December 1672 by HMS Gloucester (William Coleman commanding), and sent into Saltcombe, Devon, arriving 9 December. See Calendar of State Papers Domestic 1672-1673, 263 and SP 29/318, no 201.
Documents: 2 - privateering commission (issued by Willem III), 28 October 1672, with certificate (6 March 1673) that this commission was taken aboard Phoenix of Zealand on 7 December 1672.
