Folios 341-342: Peter Rothe, Newcastle upon Tyne. Account of violent mob actions against the press gang in Shields. Request sent to Lieutenant Colonel Macdowall at the barracks in Tynemouth to provide military assistance. One of the Shields press gang violently assaulted. Similar violent scenes at Lieutenant Wren's rendezvous at North Shields. The Militia called out to prevent similar disturbances in Newcastle.
