Folio 114. Joseph Ronchi to Lord Kingston. Letter mainly about Kingston's letter from Rotterdam and expressing concern that Kingston still went there before he went to the Duke of 'Bouvier' [?Flanders] to make his case known. Ronchi asks that Kingston not venture without the pass long expected and delayed and wonders that he 'did not endeavour anything by way of Brussels' [Spanish Netherlands]. He observes 'the tide runs as before in our enchanted castle; the same liberty of talking foolishly is suffered, though I hope in a few days to see their pride more abated than before. How can you think a man has either wit or honesty when he promises you a thing of such consequence as your pass, many weeks and months ago, and has done nothing yet?'.
