Folio 85. Jacob Janeway at Canterbury [Kent] to unknown. Letter giving fresh information about the prisoners at Canterbury one of whom is said to be gentleman of the horse to the Duke [Philippe] of Orleans. The prisoners will remain under a guard of dragoons until orders are received. Janeway adds 'that the small encouragement which informations of this nature meet withal is enough to discourage most men, but my love to my country makes me look on it as mine and every man's duty to do his utmost to preserve the peace and happiness of it, though in never so private a capacity.'
