Folios 384-385: Joseph Sydney Yorke, HMS Stag, Portsmouth Harbour. In October 1796 he took out of an American vessel John Scott who not having any American Register was concluded to be English but he said he was a native of Bayonne and wishing to enter was put on the books of HMS Stag. Also taken onboard HMS Stag were John Malcoste a native of Genoa taken in La Brunette, French Privateer, and Peter Rudway, an Englishman taken in an American vessel by the French Privateer. He has reason lately to dislike their conduct and disapprove of their principles so he asks for authorisation to discharge them into one of the Prison ships as Prisoners of War.
