Prisoner Name: Thomas Ball, aged 42, agricultural labourer.
Court and Date of Trial: Warwick Quarter Sessions, Coventry, April 1843.
Crime: Stealing hay, value 1 shilling 6d, from rick yard of William Day of Binley, farmer, his employer, on 17 March 1843.
Initial Sentence: Seven years transportation.
Gaoler's Report: Character bad. Convicted before. Conduct good on board Stirling Castle hulk.
Outcome: Free pardon, 20 May 1847.
Petitions and letters: Petition from the prisoner in Coventry gaol, pleading innocence, undersigned by William Day, the prosecutor, and 24 inhabitants of Binley, testifying to his good conduct.
Petition from William Day of Coventry, farmer and brick maker, the prosecutor, pleading time served, conduct good on hulks and will provide constant employment, with covering letters.
