The Duke of Bolton informing [the Earl of Shrewsbury] that he is extremely sorry he cannot comply with what is commanded to him in preferring Col [Colonel] Foulkes to one of his two regiments, for he has engaged his honour to those gentlemen that they should be commanded by none other but himself or his son William. He also recommends Sir John Guyes. Mention of Captain Nelthorpe.
