Folio 54. Lord Brandon informing [James] Vernon that he is now in his progress through Wales, where he finds the common people well inclined. The deputy-lieutenant of Lancashire has been very active for His Majesty's service, and he think it will be of great consequence for Lord Shrewsbury to send a letter of thanks, directed to Sir Ralph Ash[e]ton, to be communicated to the rest. He also met Mr Scravemor, by whom he finds all things are not so well in Ireland, so he shall not yet release 'the papists of Lancashire'.
