A petition on behalf of former guardsman Richard Hunt, seeking pardon for killing Martin Ware in Drury Lane 12 years ago. The petitioner, Sir Robert Nightingale says that Hunt wants to return home from the East Indies, and that he has made amends with his victim's widow. (1) An affidavit from relatives of Martin Were and his late wife Mary Were [Ware], who died about 29 August 1720. They say the widow and the killer had come to terms about the killing, which took place about 12 January 1707. (2) A renunciation of claims the killer by the widow, dated on 18 March 1719, and witness by Jno [John] Portman, Will [William] White. Endorsed: 'report'.
