Folio 239. From Lenthall ?Vicar. To Postmasters General, Lord Cornwallis and [James] Craggs [senior]. Place: Aboard the 'Mercury' packet boat, Flushing [Netherlands].
A letter advising of his arrival in 'the Groyne' [La Coruna, Spain], and of the arrival in that port of two small vessels with 170 recruits aboard, who appeared to have been enlisted by the [Jacobite] 'Pretender' [James Francis Edward Stuart], with the expectation of another vessel arriving with 200 more recruits. The master of the vessel was Wm [William] Bryand of Castletownsend [Castlehaven, Cork, Ireland] who came from Dongarhan [?Dungarvan]. 'The Mercury' returned to Falmouth [Cornwall] on 18 March 1721.
