The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) is a police unit, part of the The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC), which is funded by and reports to the Home Office. NaCTSO supports the 'protect and prepare' strands of the UK Government's counter-terrorism strategy. The unit works alongside the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). It is also responsible for running the National Counter Terrorism Security Advisers (CTSAs) network, by which the unit supports a network of about 190 CTSAs who work within local police forces across the UK as officers and staff, and whose primary role is to provide help, advice and guidance on all aspects of counter terrorism protective security to specified industry sectors of the UK.
