A petition seeking a post for George Werden, surgeon of Sheffield, who has been driven out of his home and profession because of his loyal action during the present [Jacobite] rebellion. Signed by the deputy lieutenants of the west riding of Yorkshire: Sir William Robinson; Sir Walter Hawksworth; Sir Rowland Winn; Edward Thornson; Thomas Westby; and Messers Ward, Harvey, Copley, Vincent, Batty, Fulgam and Lister. Singed by deputy lieutenants of Nottinghamshire: Sir Francis Molineux; Sir Hard [Hardwick] Wastnidge; Sir Thomas Perkins; Sir George Savil; and Messers Thornley senior, Mellish, Molineux, Hutchison, Gregory and Collins. [Dated in accordance with SP 35/18/89, and the reference to a 'present rebellion'].
