A petition for reward based on 27 years of service as surveyor of his Majesty's Woods and for raising naval stores in America. Mentions: the quantity of tar, pitch, turpentine and resin exported; the security he was forced to resort to during 'the Indian Wars' [i.e. King William's and Queen Anne's Wars]; and the denial of the Crown's rights to the woods by the public assembly at Boston [Massachusetts]. Dated according to his stated appointment in 1696, his 27 year tenure, and his dismissal four years ago.
