Description

Part 2, Folios 6-9.

Plans for the invasion of Britain [during the Jacobite Rising of 1719], drawing on information from 'John Roberts collected during 4 months in Holland', Sir Hugh Peterson [Paterson of Bannockburn, 'Mr Maule, and others of that party, but more especially by a message from [the Earl of] Mar himself'. Mentions: the King of Sweden [Charles XII] receiving the late Duke of Ormonde; an impending peace with Russia, and a joint Swedish-Russian invasion of Scotland; Jacobites in Leyden [Leiden] Holland [Netherlands]; the loading of arms onto Scottish ships, paid for by Paris banker Nicholas Gordon; the embarkation of Irish troops of the King of Spain [Philip V], at a Mediterranean port; ships to be loaded with arms and provisions at the port of Passage, near San Sebastian, which are to be joined by the Pr [Pretender, James Francis Edward Stuart], the Duke of Liria, and English, Irish and Scottish officers presently at Madrid and Bayonne [France]; the Duke of Berwick's regiment, marched from Cambray [Cambrai], via 'Guinne' [Guyenne]; financial supplies from the Pope and Sweden, and minting arrangements; and 'an account of the Irish regiments now in the King of Spain's service, most of them at present in Sardinia and Sicily'. [Dated as per Robert's plans at SP 35/11/92].
