The petition of Rowland Tyron, merchant of London, in favour of Joseph Milles, of Barbados who killed Jean [John] Brindsen in a duel at Speights Town. The petitioner requests that His Majesty order the island's governor, that in case Milles be convicted of murder, execution of any sentence may be stayed until such times His Majesty has been informed of the facts of the case and determined whether or not Milles is a worthy subject of compassion. [Dating note: orders to this effect were issued to the governor on 9 April 1718].
