The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) was formed in April 2006. It is a cross agency and cross business department of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), which is tasked to work both nationally and internationally to bring online child sex offenders, including those involved in the production, distribution and viewing of child pornography to the UK courts.
In June 2011, it was announced that SOCA's operations would be merged into a larger National Crime Agency, which commenced operations in October 2013.
