Part 2, Folio 78. From Sir Michael Creagh. To King George.
Creagh noticed the unhappy expression on King's face last Sunday, indicating that he is troubled about something, and recommends what he should eat and drink for his health and wellbeing. Accordin g to Creagh, 'jellies, [hot] chocolates or broths are better for breakfast than tea or coffee, and for lunch a piece of salted meat will strengthen the stomach'; as for drinks, 'a Graves wine or a Pontacq is far better for His Majesty than any Champagne, Burgundy [wine] or any other wine, and a good beer, not too old, is better than water which strongly weakens the stomach'. He hopes the King 'will have the kindness to forgive this liberty' and to think about his misfortunes 'ruined by taxes and shares in Holland which makes him want to perish because he does not have anything to support himself and four motherless children. Very little could relieve him as he is not a papist'.
