Part 2, Folio 18. To Earl Stanhope.
Memorial of Sir John Lambert, Francis Shepheard and Samuel Shepheard executors of the late Samuel Shepheard, Edward Rudge and of several other merchants concerned showing that, although the justice of their claim for relief for the seizure of their provisions and stores for the use of the British garrison at Alicant [Alicante, Spain] is accepted by the Commissioners of Account, the Commissioners say that without further powers they are unable to pay which the memorialists challenge citing statute. The memorialists pray that Stanhope again recommends their case so that the Commissioners are 'induced' to pay. Signed by Robt [Robert] Cross and Company and Thomas Ayles in addition to the memorialists.
