Memorial that a promised promotion having been given to another he was told by the Duke of Marlborough 'that he would take care of him and provide him with the first vacancy either in Foot or Dragoons'. There being every likelihood of a vacancy of a lieutenant colonelcy in Major-General Wynn's regiment of Dragoons he prays to be granted it 'and that he may not be so unhappy as to be the only officer who has the honour to sit in the House of Commons marked out to have no provision made for him'.
