Petition. That he has served as a chaplain in the Royal Navy for the past seven years and before that as chaplain to the British Ambassador in Constantinople; that his last ship HMS Moor was paid off 'last May [1715]' and 'being old, his constitution broke and being a Frenchman, destitute of friends, relations and all other means of supporting himself and family' he asks to be recommended to the Lord Chancellor for the first vacancy in his gift, 'as it was usual in the late King William's time during peace'.
