Administrative / biographical background

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council is an independent statutory body, first set up under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1946. The Council's task is to advise the minister responsible on all matters relating to the industrial injuries scheme. The Council is an advisory non-departmental body of the Department for Work and Pensions.
