The National Blood Service was part of the National Blood Authority. In 2005, the National Blood Authority and UK Transplant merged and formed NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), a Special Health Authority. The National Blood Service has been managed by NHSBT since the merge. In 2007, the National Blood Service began to incorporate the phrase 'Give blood' in its webpages within the NHSBT website and eventually rebranded as NHSBT Blood Donation.
