A letter acknowledging receipt of correspondence; enclosing a letter from Lord Stanhope to the Mayor of Newcastle [Northumberland] 'in the manner you propose'; and advising that papers sent by the recipient are in the hands of the Lord Chancellor who will make use of them to the recipient's satisfaction 'and that of honest gentlemen in your parts'. (1) A letter confirming that the election of Sir Wm [William] Blacket [Blackett] as mayor of Newcastle would not 'render the corporation obnoxious to the government'.
