A warrant for the appointment of Sir John Vanburgh, Clarenceaux King of Arms, to the office of Garter Principal King of Arms, following the death of Sir Henry St George, and following Sir John's nomination by Henry, Earl of Suffolk and Bindon. One of the law officers is to prepare a bill. The warrant refers to a 'pretension to the said office' from John Anstis, Norfolk Herald, who claims he has letters patent from Queen Ann, dated on 2 April 1714, which are to be tried in court with a writ of scire facias.
