Petition for letters patent of denization for himself and his eight sons: Henry [Hope], John [Hope], Archibald [Hope], James [Hope], Isaac [Hope], Thomas [Hope], Adrian [Hope], and Zachariah [Hope], referring to the petitioner's Quaker persuasion. The petition is endorsed, at Whitehall, by the Earl of Sunderland, with a referral to the law officers, for their report. (1) Report of the Recorder of London in favour of the petitioner, dated on 26 June 1717. (2) Certificate in favour of the petitioner, signed by: Joseph Hyam, Joshua Hyam, and Thomas Hyam, with an additional certification from Robert Pringle, both dated on 18 June 1717.
