'Sir, This comes wishing you good success in your undertaking to assist us in proceeding against the Usurper upon the Throne against either right or justice, for you may be sure of a good reward for taking part with the just, and destroying the Usurper and his wicked brew; therefore be you ready, for his Royal Highness has ordered SJM [?Secretary John Murray of Broughton] to come, as soon as we are moved from this place you may expect him and then he will order you what step to take. There is four thousand in Lancashire ready to come to you as soon as SJM arrives, Yorkshire is to be your place of rendezvous with the two thousand that are to come out of Devonshire, as soon as the Usurper's forces is marched against us in the North - I forbear to direct it for fear of discovery but the time will come when we shall show our faces openly.
