Folio 5. Report 'on the situation and circumstances of Your Majesty's [the Pretender] loyal and faithful subjects in the Highlands of Scotland, in order to encourage their general rising, and make them easy as to their families and beings, during the time they are in Your Majesty's most honourable service, I mean such of the Highland clans as to my knowledge never made any obstacle since the time of Cromwell's usurpation, and since the last unhappy revolution in Britain, that is' the families of McLean, McDonald, Sir Donald Clanranald, Glengarry, Kapich [Keppoch], Stewart of Appin and the Camerons and others. The report goes on to advise that in order to encourage the clans and bring in Lovat and Seaforth it be endeavoured to land 2,000 men at Inverlochy and the fort there razed.
