A petition and affidavit of Thomas Benson, an engineer from Newcastle under Line [Lyme, Staffordshire], seeking letters patent for his invention of a machine to crush the flint stones needed in the manufacture of white pottery. Benson outlines the dangerous health consequences of the present manual method. (1) The Attorney General's report in favour of the petition.
