Two copies of a petition from Joseph Brooke seeking letters patent for an invention of a machine or jack engine used for raising water by means of screws, useful for fire-fighting; together with Brooke's affidavit. (1) The solicitor General's report in favour of granting Brooke letters patent. (2) A warrant ordering the preparation of a bill for granting letters patent to Brooke, dated on 29 August 1726.
